BMR Paintshop began life as a mobile paint repair service for personal cars. Before quickly expanding into commercial enterprises. In 2014, they were delighted to of found a home in Ampere Industrial Estate, Newbury, Berkshire. 2015 saw BMR grow from a fresh-faced startup to the leading automotive paintshop in Newbury. Offering services from bodywork repair, vintage restoration to Alloy Wheel refurbishing and Headlamp Restoration.
In 2015 BMR Paintshop engage The Creative Donut to design and develop a website to match their vision. The previous website was a Yell.com special – bulky text, repetitive in nature, stock photos and zero web design creativity. Whilst these websites fulfil the need to create a digital presence online, they seldom convey a professional image or convert visitors into customers. At The Creative Donut we have previously redesigned a number of Yell websites where the company is seeking a more professional touch.
Upon commencement of the web design project, BMR Paintshop had already had a nice logo redesigned. The company logo is always a great place to start when considering web design creative. Colours for the palette should be consistent across the logo, website and any associated branding. To this end, the new website features our much-loved colour BMR Blue, custom designed icons to simplify content for easy reading and a flip-slider to quickly display a before-and-after gallery.
In addition, we had a lot of fun re-colouring the header image of a BMW M3 from green to BMR Blue!
One of the limitations in the BMR Paintshop project was the frequency at which the site would be updated. Nowadays many businesses use websites as a tool for growing awareness of their business and driving sales. However BMR Paintshop were already very busy and simply didn’t have the resource to update the website often.
For this reason we opted for a stripped back minimal design. The Services need no further explanation and the photo slider could be updated with Before & After pictures extremely easily.
This project gave us an opportunity to drive (bad joke!) further into graphic design and photo editing. Because of the clean design, a lot of focus was put on the photography. Ensuring the site looked professional, friendly and engaging was paramount.
